UPDATE: This is now an historical article because the J-Plus Hotel closed it's doors permanently on May 1, 2018.
Hong Kong's JPlus Hotel has updated it's decade old Philippe Starck decor and become part of Starck's Yoo Properties. As we noted previously, this hotel is a real gem in the heart of Causeway Bay. Walk to the best shopping in the world, or just relax in an artistically nuanced suite. This was the first boutique hotel in Hong Kong, and may very well still be the best.
The small lobby features a Hall-of-Fame of Philippe Starck furniture. The bustling street scene, eclectic atmosphere, and 24/7 espresso give this property a real personality. A in-lobby showcase store from Tang Tang Tang Tang offers guests contemporary Chinese designer goods.
The second floor features an outdoor terrace overlooking Jardine's Bazaar. Perhaps you've heard about the famed Jardine's Crescent market… it's literally across the street so go there and buy a five dollar watch. Or walk two minutes to to the nearest Cartier or Bulova and choose one for a thousand times more.
The hotels's extensive makeover has also seen refreshingly bright designs applied to each of the hotel’s 32 luxurious studios and 24 stylish spacious suites, which are styled in four dynamic colour themes: Dreamy Pink, Tangerine Joy, Sunshine Yellow and Tranquil Blue. Unique ceiling graffiti stickers echo the inspired artistry of graffiti displayed on the hotel’s external walls and adds a further dimension to these welcoming personal sanctuaries, while plush bespoke handcrafted carpets add the final touch of luxury to each studio and suite.
“J Plus by YOO has been reimagined with a fresh new look for 2014,” states YOO Design Director, Mathew Dalby. “This refreshed restyling continues our design house’s legacy of contemporary, imaginative and sophisticated creativity to surprise and delight even the most jaded traveler.”
“In a city so synonymous with change, this iconic address is redefined and refreshed for the future. Our legacy is rejection of all things conventional. Original design enhances life. The huge expansion and birth of street art into our modern culture cannot and should not be denied.”
